About Reach Success NYC

Our mission

The goal of the Reach Success Initiative is to empower underserved students to aim for specialized high schools in NYC.

 

Every year, a new article comes out about how NYC specialized high schools have extremely low numbers of Black and Latino students. This is not an issue with the test--it's an issue of families not having the resources to prepare for it. To put it simply, students who have the resources to pay for a year of private tutoring will do better than students who do not have the same opportunity. This is why we want to provide a network of volunteer tutors for any student, regardless of their socio-economic status. We believe that all students should have equitable access to resources that will allow them to do their best on the SHSAT.
